Questions we always get
- Does this guarantee I comply with the law?
- No, and be wary of anyone who promises that. Automated scanning covers 30-40% of WCAG criteria. The rest requires a person testing the shop with a keyboard and a screen reader. What we do give you is everything that can be checked reliably, the dated history showing you are working on it, and the accessibility statement the standard requires.
- I already have an accessibility widget installed.
- Widgets layer controls over a site that still has the same barriers underneath. In January 2025 the US FTC fined the best-known vendor $1 million over claims that theirs delivered compliance. European authorities assess the page, not the widget. Our scan will tell you whether you have one and what barriers remain underneath it.
- Why is the scan free?
- Because a one-off scan goes stale. The moment you change the theme, install an app or import products, the same barriers come back. What has recurring value is the monitoring, and that is the only thing we charge for.
- I am a micro-enterprise — does this apply to me?
- Micro-enterprises with fewer than 10 people and under €2 million turnover that provide services are exempt from the EAA. Those manufacturing products are not. The exemption is from the legal obligation, not from the customer who cannot buy from you: around 25% of the European adult population has some form of disability.
