Images with no alternative text in WordPress

Some images have no alt attribute.

Where to change it in WordPress

Media › Library, select the image and fill in "Alt text".

Always edit from a child theme or the Customizer’s Additional CSS, never directly in the theme files.

Why it matters

A screen reader cannot describe an image that carries no alternative text: it reads out the file name, or skips it entirely. On a product page that means the person does not know what they are buying.
